To You we say, “Come…”

A Prayer for people walking in darkness yet seeking light:

Lord Jesus, Master of both the light and the darkness,

Send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas:

We who have so much to do and seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day;

We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us;

We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom;

We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence;

We are you people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light;

To you we say, “Come Lord Jesus!”

A prayer by Henri Nouwen

About R.H. (Rusty) Foerger

As I enter the third third of life, I am becoming aware of the role of elders today “to enlarge spiritual vision, being devoted to prayer, living in the face of death, as a living curriculum of the Christian life” (Dr. James M. Houston). I am a life long and life wide learner who seeks to: *decipher the enigma of our worth *rescue from the agony of prayerlessness *integrate spiritual friendship.

    I plan to read this several times, if not each day leading up to Christmas. Thank you for sharing!
