As I enter the third third of life, I am becoming aware of what Dr. James Houston says is the role of elders today: “to enlarge spiritual vision, being devoted to prayer, living in the face of death, as a living curriculum of the Christian life.” I am a life long and life wide learner who seeks to:
- decipher the enigma of our worth
- rescue from the agony of prayerlessness
- integrate spiritual friendship
May we have enough grace to learn and mentor.

–This is great. I love your choice of words here, and you values.

Thanks for your encouragement. I am one of those who agonize – or at least happily grapple – with the choice of words. You can imagine how each phrase came to be, and the homage to those who first said them – all mentors along the way of this spiritual journey. Grace to you.

Hi Julia, I don’t know how to explain that? I am away from my computer for @ a month, and I am not that techie to figure it out yet. Others manage to follow, but I am not sure how (smile). Thanks for your request. Will get back to you.

Hi Julia,
sorry for the wait, but there are apparently 2 ways to find the “follow button”. One is that there should be a “follow blog” button in the comment form. Another way is to see the “follow blog” box in the bottom corner of your screen as you scroll up or down an article. I hope you find it. Appreciating your articles in the mean time.

Great “about” page Rusty. James Houston and so many others have noted well our role to be one of prayer and walking our faith in a manner that people can read the Bible in our actions.

Thank you; may we be found, as you say, walking our faith in such a way that they may see Jesus – the Word made flesh. Grace to you.

Hey Rusty –
Not sure if you remember me – I run a blog that you follow – “Peace Hacks.” I recently moved the blog to a self hosted site which means that you’ll no longer receive emails for new posts. If you’re still interested in getting notifications, you can simply go to peacehacks.com, click the “following” button (to unfollow the site), then click the resultant “follow” button.
Hope you’re well, and hope to hear from you soon.
